disc print
A quick explanation of different disc print processes
We offer all industry-standard on-body disc print processes, from inkjet and thermal, suitable for very fast turnaround recordable orders (CD-R, DVD-R & BD-R), to silkscreen and offset litho printing which are usually used for larger-scale replication orders, but which can also be used for recordable orders where necessary. Here is a basic outline of the disc print processes offered:
mono thermal print
Smudge-proof print to white or silver-surface disc in black, blue or red. A very quick and basic print method best suited to text, small logos and line-art only. Can look very effective within these restrictions (similar to a silkscreen print). Best avoid: tints and gradients.
full colour thermal print
Smudge-proof print to white or silver-surface disc in high resolution full colour CMYK which adds a glossy surface as standard. Suitable for all types of artwork except large blocks of certain colours. A full colour thermal print usually has a more professional, solid-looking appearance than an inkjet print.
full colour inkjet print
Print to white or silver-surface disc in high resolution full colour CMYK. With or without a varnish for smudge-proofing. Suitable for all types of artwork but shows better results with lighter colours.
silkscreen print
Smudge proof print to white or silver-surface disc in Pantone spot colours producing very bright, solid results. Usually suitable for text, logos and line-art only, although photos can be used to produce an impressionistic halftone effect. Best avoid: tints, gradients and CMYK artwork.
full colour offset litho print
Smudge proof print to white or silver-surface disc in high resolution full colour CMYK with or without a varnish as required. Suitable for all types of artwork, although solid colours work better with silkscreen.
custom-shaped white base
With silkscreen and offset litho print the white base can be a custom shape to allow parts of the silver base to show through.
vinyl effect print
A combination of silkscreen and offset litho print used to imitate the grooves of a vinyl record with a label area in the centre.
